A Smithfield man was hospitalized after being severely beaten.
Johnston County deputies and Clayton Police responded to a 911 call around 2:00am Saturday in the 2600 block of Covered Bridge Road. That’s where officers found a 30 year-old male victim who had reportedly been assaulted by two people in the nearby Buffalo Creek Subdivision then moved to the location on Covered Bridge Road.
The victim was rushed to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The victim’s vehicle was found by officers parked near the scene.
A sheriff’s detective has been assigned to the case. As of Monday, no arrests had been made.
