Upon arrival officers discovered the 49 year-old shooting victim at his home on Santa Gertrudis Drive. The victim stated his neighbor had shot him.

Authorities determined the neighbor, who lives at a separate address on Santa Gertrudis Drive, had shot the victim in what the neighbor described as an attempted breaking and entering to his residence.

Preliminary evidence indicated the shooting occurred at the home of the neighbor alleging the attempted breaking and entering.

Detectives responded to process the scene.

The shooting victim was transported to Wake Med with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are in consultation with the District Attorney’s Office regarding the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, however the investigation remains ongoing.

The names of those involved has not been released.
