One person was burned following a mobile home fire Friday afternoon. Shortly before 3:00pm flames destroyed a mobile home at Stallings Mobile Home Park in the 2300 block of Highway 70 Business, just east of I-95 in Smithfield.
A man staying in the home suffered burns. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Assistant Johnston County Fire Marshal Banks Wallace said the victim was cooking when the fire started on the stove and quickly spread.
Firemen from the Smithfield, Selma and Pine Level Fire Departments extinguished the blaze. The home was ruled a total loss.
The Red Cross is assisting the victim displaced by the fire. Wallace said the man was renting the home and did not have renters insurance.
