An alert neighbor who called 911 after seeing two suspicious people dressed in all black walking around a residential neighborhood led authorities to two arrests Thursday.
Nash County deputies said they received the call from the Eagle Ridge neighborhood outside of Zebulon in southwestern Nash County. Deputies located a vehicle parked in the neighborhood that had been stolen from Havelock, NC Thursday morning.
Deputies quickly determined that Lavette Hinton, who was being sought for a probation violation, had recently been living in Havelock with a relative. Hinton was accompanied by a 15 year old male juvenile.
The investigation revealed the stolen car was parked near the home of a family friend. During a search of the home both Hinton and the juvenile were found inside, along with the family’s two children and an additional family friend.
Hinton was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and given a $15,000 secured bond. He was also served with his probation violation, and given an additional $35,000 secured bond.
The male juvenile was taken to the Wake Juvenile Detention Center where he was served with a juvenile petition for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Charges are pending for both subjects from Havelock Police Department.
Nash County deputies credited the alert citizen for alerting authorities to suspicious activity which led to the arrests.
