Man Killed After Being Struck By Train

SMITHFIELD – A pedestrian died after being struck by a train. The collision was reported at 3:03am Saturday, June 14, approximately 230 feet from the Wal-Pat Road rail crossing.

Smithfield Police said 34 year-old Antonio Darell Reed of Brogden Road, Smithfield was fatally struck by a freight train.

The train stopped and a railroad employee notified police of the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.
