Man Robbed After Responding To CraigsList Ad

Authorities say a man was robbed in the parking lot of a convenience store after meeting a person to sell an item he had listed on CraigsList.

The incident happened Feb. 5th at the Sheetz on Highway 210 at McGee’s Crossroads.

A 50 year-old Benson man told deputies said he had listed a grass edger for sale on Craigslist. A person responded to his ad and requested to meet to make the purchase. When the victim showed up in the parking lot to make the exchange, the suspect grabbed the edger, punched him in the face, then fled.

The victim was not injured. The stolen edger was valued at $200.

The incident is under investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
