Man Says He Was Robbed While Attempting To Buy Marijuana

A 22 year-old man said he was robbed at gunpoint while trying to buy illegal drugs.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the victim called deputies after being robbed by a man he was meeting to buy marijuana.

The victim said he arranged to meet an individual known to him in a parking lot near the intersection of Highway 210 and I-40 around 1:00pm Sunday for the drug transaction.

The victim said he planned to buy $45 worth of marijuana for personal use but when he arrived the suspect pulled out a handgun and took his money and a gold chain he was wearing. The victim said he never received his marijuana.

The victim was not injured.

Detectives have been assigned to the case.
