A Smithfield man was shot during a home invasion Sunday morning. It happened at Bell Hope Mobile Home Park #2 on Swift Creek Road, off Highway 210.
The 36 year-old victim said he was asleep in his home around 1:00 AM when three people kicked in the front door of his residence and burst inside. At least one of the intruders was armed with a handgun. During a confrontation the victim was shot in the arm. The 3 black male suspects stole the man’s cell phone and fled in a blue Honda Civic.
The victim said he drove to the Speedway convenience store on Highway 42 at I-40 to summon help. He was transported to Wake Medical Center for a serious gunshot injury.
