Police are investigating a weekend armed robbery in Smithfield that happened just after 1:00 AM Saturday on East Dundee Street.
The 47 year-old victim told police he had gotten into a verbal argument with another person. The suspect then retrieved a brick and struck the victim in the head. The victim was transported to Wake Medical Center for possible serious injuries.
Police Captain T.S. Choe said detectives are investigating the incident and also trying to determine exactly what was stolen from the victim.
Authorities do not believe the robbery was a random act.
