A traffic stop for an expired license plate resulted in the arrest of a 25 year-old man on felony drug charges. On Tuesday, a Smithfield police officer stopped a 2003 Volvo on Outlet Center Drive for an expired license plate. During the traffic stop, police determined the driver, Daniel Floyd William II of Timber Lane, Dunn did not have a valid license.
During a search of the car, 53 grams of suspected marijuana was found in the center console, according to Police Chief Keith Powell.
William was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana. William was held in the Johnston County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.
