Last month, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners accepted the nomination of W. Brooks Matthews to represent Harnett County’s District 3.
The District 3 Board of Commissioners seat became vacant following Board of Commissioners Chairman Howard Penny Jr.’s resignation and transition to the North Carolina General Assembly, to fill the vacant District 53 House of Representatives seat.
The Harnett County Republican Party Commissioner 3 District Committee had nominated Matthews to fill the Harnett County Board of Commissioners District 3 seat after nominating Penny to fill the vacant House seat. Matthews is running unopposed to fill the District 3 seat in the upcoming November General Election.
Matthews will take his Oath of Office as a County Commissioner at the Harnett County Board of Commissioners regular meeting on Monday, October 5th.
