A local mayor was honored last night for his service to the community.
Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams was presented with the 2016 James R. Stevens Service to Garner Award. The award is bestowed on citizens who have made substantial, outstanding contributions to Garner over a significant number of years, in keeping with the late Mr. Stevens’ tradition of service spanning decades.
Mayor Williams was selected by a panel of judges that included town officials, a Garner Chamber of Commerce representative, a Stevens family member and members of the community.
The award was presented during Tuesday night’s Garner Town Council meeting.
