Meadow School Wins Elementary Battle of the Books

Meadow School won the Johnston County Schools’ 2015 Elementary School Battle of the Books competition held.
 
Twenty Johnston County elementary schools, including Benson Middle, participated in the competition with 250 students involved.
 
Students competing on the Meadow School Battle Of The Books team include; Jada Barefoot, Lyda Boone, Elliot Butler, Jaleel Carranza, Jared Carranza, Kaitlyn Giddens, Anna Knowles, Adam Miller, Preston Parker, Braden Raynor, Emma Stewart, and ReaganWilliford. Coaching the team were Lorie Keith, Heather Sutton and Rhonda Langston.
 
The Meadow School BOB team was recognized by the Johnston County Board of Education for their victory during the Board’s April meeting. 
 
The team from Meadow School represented Johnston County Schools in the Regional Battle of the Books competition on April 24, at Surge Center in Wilson.
 
Books used in this year’s competition included; How Tia Lola Came to Stay, The Penderwicks, Soft Rain, Among the Hidden, Taffy of Torpedo Junction, Extra Credit, Free Baseball, Kenny & The Dragon, A Strong Right Arm, Princess Academy, Turtle in Paradise, Blue, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Rules, Hatchet, Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library, The Sinking of the Titanic, 1912, and The Candymakers.
