SMITHFIELD – The Town of Smithfield has scheduled a Meet and Greet event with recently hired Chief of Police Peter “Pete” Hedrick.
The Meet and Greet will take place Thursday, October 19 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the Smithfield Town Hall. The official Swearing-In Ceremony will take place at 6:00pm.
Hedrick began work August 14, 2023 replacing former Chief Keith Powell who retired in 2022.
Hedrick retired after 28 years of service with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He was hired in 2021 as police chief in Robersonville, NC, a town of about 1,200 residents, before accepting the police chief’s position in Smithfield.
The public is invited to attend the event. The Town Hall is located at 350 E. Market Street in Downtown Smithfield. Light refreshments will be served.
