Mega Millions Jackpot Nears Half A Billion Dollars For Tonight’s Drawing

RALEIGH – Mega Millions players in North Carolina have a lot to be thankful for this week with a jackpot growing to $489 million for Tuesday’s drawing.

A winner tonight (Tuesday) would have the choice of taking home the $489 million jackpot as an annuity or $225.3 million in cash.

Even though the jackpot remains up for grabs, North Carolina players continue to win big prizes playing Mega Millions. One lucky player matched four white balls and the Mega Ball in Friday’s drawing to win $10,000. The ticket was purchased at Fast Phil’s on Taylorsville Road in Statesville.

“We have seen a $10,000 Mega Millions winner in four of the last five drawings in North Carolina,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Hopefully we will see a jackpot winner here this Thanksgiving week.”

Nationally, the Mega Millions game has delivered three jackpot winners so far this year. The most recent win occurred in Texas with an $810 million jackpot on Sept. 10.

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million.
