SMITHFIELD – Fast-moving burglars stole a large amount of jewelry from a Smithfield business during an early morning break-in. On September 2 at 6:21am, Smithfield Police responded to a burglar alarm at Zales Outlet, at 1221 Outlet Center Drive.
Officers arrived and found the rear door to the business had been pried open. Ten display cases had been broken into and emptied of their contents.
A manager who responded to the scene estimated $266,000 in various jewelry had been stolen from the 10 cases.
Police said two suspects were captured on security footage wearing several layers of clothing, face masks and gloves.
Police said they are following up on several leads. Detectives, at last report, were waiting for copies of the security footage to assist with their investigation.
Let me guess………….
Probably repeat offenders who carry stolen firearms and distribute drugs to the local high schoolers. If I had to guess. 🙂
Spot on!
