Metal Lamp Used In Assault On Elderly Women

BENSON — Two elderly Johnston County women are recovering from numerous injuries following an assault reported in the Meadow community. A 22-year-old Benson man is now facing multiple felony charges in connection with the incident.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the assault occurred around 10:30 a.m. on December 10 at a residence where the suspect’s grandmother lives. Jenson Keith McLamb, 22, of Woods Crossroads Road, was reportedly at the home with his 75-year-old grandmother, who had an 82-year-old female friend visiting at the time.
Investigators say McLamb asked his grandmother to take him somewhere. When she reportedly refused authorities allege McLamb then assaulted both women, striking them repeatedly with a metal table lamp, causing injuries to their heads and bodies.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported both victims by ambulance to WakeMed for treatment of their injuries.
McLamb was initially charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault. However, after the extent of the victims’ injuries was determined, the charges were upgraded to two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
As of last report, McLamb remained in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
