BENSON – A routine traffic stop by a deputy sheriff led to the arrest of two people on methamphetamine trafficking charges.
Around 2:29am Monday, October 28, a Johnston County deputy was on patrol on NC 210 at McGee’s Crossroads and conducting a traffic stop.
The vehicle was reportedly driven by Emmanuel Lopez Medina, 28, of Memory Lane, Benson. A front seat passenger was identified as Sarah Elizabeth Peterson, 32, of Memory Lane, Benson.
During the vehicle stop, a large undisclosed amount of suspect methamphetamine was located under the driver’s seat. A small amount of meth was reportedly found in Peterson’s purse.
Medina and Peterson were charged with three counts each of trafficking methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver meth, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Medina was also charged with driving on a revoked license, rear lamp violation, and fictitious registration.
