Meth Lab Found Inside Smithfield Area Home

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and the NC State Bureau of Investigation reportedly found a methamphetamine lab inside a home during a narcotics search warrant.

Local and state agents conducted the search warrant Wednesday at a home on Highway 70 about three miles east of Smithfield.  In addition to the meth lab, authorities said they seized a small amount of methamphetamines, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

James Andrew Lee, 47, of Highway 70 East, Smithfield and Amy Lynn Terry of S. Third Street, Smithfield were charged with manufacturing methamphetamines, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of precursor chemicals.

Lee was also charged with possession of pseudoephedrine with a prior meth conviction, a felony offense.

Lee was confined in the Johnston County Jail on a $1 million secured bond.  Terry was held on a $100,000 secured bond.
