MOUNT OLIVE – With over 32 years of clinical practice Dr. Nancy Mimm of Harrisburg, PA is well poised to lead the University of Mount Olive Nursing Program to the next level.
“As the new Chair of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Mimm is committed to ensuring that the Department continues its mission of providing quality care and education to promote the health and well-being of all people in our community,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Burt Lewis. “She has a vision to create an environment where students can grow as professionals while simultaneously impacting others through their knowledge. With her leadership, the Department will continue to provide innovative and compassionate care to all individuals.”
Mimm earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rutgers University. She holds a MSN in Nursing Education and MSN Pediatric Critical Care. Her BSN prior work experience includes developing academic programs in nursing from the ground up. Mimm’s 32 years in clinical practice includes working for the New Jersey Department of Health where she was responsible for maternal child health outcomes.
According to Mimm, she has a commitment to creating an environment where students can thrive and engage with their peers. “I hope to foster excellence among students by providing them with the best possible learning environment to encourage critical thinking and collaboration,” she said. “I am committed to implementing a framework emphasizing advancing care through technology, evidence-based practice, population-based, and servant leadership development.”
Under Mimm’s leadership, UMO nursing students will be expected to graduate with an applied knowledge of both nursing and public health foundations. Under her guidance, students will be expected to have the skills and knowledge necessary to become successful advocates for change in health care and beyond.
“Dr. Mimm’s dedication to nursing education, patient care, and well-being is unwavering, and she is eager to continue shaping the UMO Department of Nursing into an exemplar program for quality health care,” concluded Lewis.
Mimm and her husband, Cliff, have four adult children and three grandchildren. She currently resides in Beulaville, NC. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, swimming, crafting, live music, and dancing.
