Minivan Found In Neuse River

A minivan was fished from the Neuse River in Johnston County Saturday morning.

A passing motorist spotted the Honda minivan floating in the Neuse River next to the bridge on Highway 42 East of Clayton.  Emergency crews responded to the scene quickly thinking it might have been a motor vehicle accident.

A swift water rescue team from Clayton determined the van was empty. Exactly how the van ended up in the river still hasn’t been determined.

Officials believe it was likely pushed into the river from an embankment.  The vehicle had not been reported stolen at the time it was found.

The Clayton and Archer Lodge Fire Departments, Johnston County EMS, NC Wildlife and NC Highway Patrol responded to the scene.  Photos by JoCoFire.com
