Mobile Home Fire Ruled Arson

Fire-Glen-Laurel-Rd-1JoCoReport.com first reported Monday about a suspicious fire that damaged a doublewide mobile home on Glen Laurel Road east of Clayton Saturday. We have now confirmed the first is being treated as arson.

A passing motorist called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the home midday.  Fire departments from Clayton, Archer Lodge and Wilson’s Mills rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames. The home and its contents valued at $70,000 was a complete loss.

A fire caused damaged at the same home about a month ago.  The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Clayton Fire Marshal are investigating the fire, which is believed to have started in the area of the front porch. Photos courtesy JoCoFire.com
