BUIES CREEK. – Campbell offensive pass game coordinator Adam Morris has been selected to the American Football Coaches’ Association 2021 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute.
Morris, also the Camels’ quarterbacks coach, completed his eighth season at Campbell in 2020. Through two seasons guiding the CU pass game, Morris has coached QB standout Hajj-Malik Williams to a Freshman All-America nod in 2019, and 2020 Preseason Big South Offensive Player of the Year.
Williams was named Stats Perform FCS Player of the Week following the Camels’ 2020 opener at Georgia Southern, collecting 310 yards of total offense (237 passing, 73 rushing) with three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).
Despite playing a four-game, all-FBS schedule in 2020, the Campbell offense ranked No. 4 in the FCS in total offense, No. 3 in rushing offense, No. 5 in passing offense and No. 1 in third down conversions at season’s end.
Morris was named offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach prior to the 2019 season, guiding CU’s wide receivers for the previous six years, while also serving as recruiting coordinator. From 2013-18, Morris helped Campbell receivers to the school’s top team single-season totals in completions (205), receiving yards (2,436) and receiving touchdowns (21).
In order to be eligible, applicants had to be born on or after January 1, 1986, and must be currently serving as a high school head coach, two-year college full-time assistant or head coach, or NAIA/NCAA (all divisions) full-time or head coach.
The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.
Due to the 2021 convention being moved to the AFCA Digital library, the 2021 AFCA 35 Under 35 representatives will get to take part in the program at the 2022 AFCA Convention.
