A young mother was robbed at gunpoint inside her own home in front of her three young children. The brazen home invasion happened around 3:35pm Tuesday at a home in the Maplewood Run subdivision off Cleveland Road outside of Smithfield.
The 29 year-old victim was at home with her three children, the youngest being less than a year old, when three men armed with handguns burst into the home and took items from inside the residence. Her husband was at work at the time.
The woman and her children escaped without physical injury. The victim was unable to provide a complete description of the assailants or a possible getaway vehicle.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the armed home invasion.
