Motorcyclist Dies In Head-On Collision

Troopers have released the names of those involved in a fatal collision between a motorcycle and minivan Wednesday.

It happened at 11:54 on Highway 581 in southern Wayne County. Highway Patrol Sergeant Michael Baker said a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle was traveling eastbound at an extremely high rate of speed while passing cars around a long curve in the road.  A Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling west on Highway 581.  The motorcycle struck the van head on at the intersection of NC581 and Spring Bank Road.

The van traveled off the road to the left and came to rest in a ditch.  The motorcycle came to rest on the roadway.

The operator of the Fatal-Motorcycle-Wayne-County-2van, George Moore, 85, of Goldsboro was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The operator of the motorcycle, Jason Daniel Allen, 30 of Goldsboro succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
