Motorcyclist Facing Charges After 115 MPH Pursuit

SMITHFIELD – A 21 year-old Clayton man is facing numerous charged after authorities said he was involved in a brief high speed chase. Christopher Gonzalez-Cedillo of Lois Lane was arrested Feb. 26 around 10:00pm.

According to authorities, a Johnston County deputy sheriff was traveling on US70 Business near Smithfield and attempted to stop Gonzalez-Cedillo for speeding on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle.

The suspect reportedly refused to stop and accelerated to speeds over 100 miles per hour. The chase turned onto Barbour Road and continued at speeds up to 115 mph. The suspect turned onto Laurel Road and stopped.

Gonzalez-Cedillo was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, no operator’s license, reckless driving, fictitious registration, and no liability insurance. He was given a $30,000 secured bond.

The motorcycle was seized under the NC Run and Done law.
