A man operating a motorcycle on Swift Creek Road near Smithfield was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon. A state trooper happened upon the crash moments after it occurred.
The rider reportedly lost control of the motorcycle in a curve, crossed the centerline, sideswiping an oncoming car and struck a ditch. As the operator was ejected he struck a concrete driveway culvert.
The victim was rushed to Wake Medical Center for treatment.
On Wednesday, the NC Highway Patrol said the accident report for the collision had not been completed and the names of those involved was not available. Photos by John Payne
