Mule Days 2024

BENSON – Just like the namesake of this weekend’s festival, Benson Mule Days is stubborn! The Mule Judging at Chamber Park Friday morning pushed through the rain and wind to crown a new Mule Days champ for 2024.

The champion was no stranger to Mule Days and the winner’s circle — Bonnie owned by Wayne Hussey from Seagrove, NC. Of course, Bonnie received a kiss from the Benson pageant queens — Little Miss Benson Holland Brooke Harper, Junior Miss Benson Karson McLamb, Teen Miss Benson Anna Marie Olive, and Miss Benson Anna Thornton — as is Mule Days tradition.

Parade
For many, the Saturday parade is the main draw for Benson Mule Days. It’s one of the biggest and oldest parades in the area and it works to showcase the entirety of the weekend festival in one long line down Main Street.

Weather couldn’t have been better Saturday morning. The storm rolled out and the blue skies rolled in — the perfect backdrop for the pageant queens, classic cars, horses, mules, marching bands, cheerleaders, tractors, local business floats, firetrucks, police cars, and much, much more.

Randy and Jean Lee were this year’s Parade Grand Marshals.
