Multiple Charges Issued During Saturation Patrol Operation

CLINTON – On Saturday, June 8, the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a “saturation patrol” in the Roseboro, Spivey’s Corner and Plain View areas. The patrols were conducted in partnership with the North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program, with the assistance of Granville County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the operation was very successful and yielded the following charges:

Driving While License Revoked: 10
Speeding: 19
No Operators License: 18
Registration Violations: 17
Other Traffic Violations: 7
Felony Arrest: 5
Warrants Served: 3
Firearms Violations: 2
Drugs Seized: 29.2 grams of Methamphetamine and 295 grams of Marijuana
 
“We are thankful for our partnership with the North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program and the Granville County Sheriff’s Office. Our goal is to gain compliance with traffic related law violations, while also curtailing other illicit criminal activities through proactive enforcement,” said Sampson County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Marcus Smith.

  2. It’s always funny when someone comments on “entrapment” or something of the like. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Vehicles must have the correct registrations which require inspections to ensure safety on the road. If that wasn’t the case, anyone could build a vehicle, and no matter how unsafe it was, operate it on the roadway. And by the way, the district attorney will dismiss a registration violation ticket without any fines if the registration is renewed before the court date…
