Names Of Double Murder Victims Released

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people found dead Thursday in a mobile home on Unity Drive. The victims have been identified as Matthew Jones and Jessica Pyatte.

ShUnity-Road-1eriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the victims died from apparent gunshot wounds. No additional details were released about the double murder investigation.


At 4:27pm last Thursday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office received a frantic 911 call after a woman reported finding her boyfriend, Matthew Jones, on the floor of his home.  Deputies responded to the address, 112 Unity Drive, off Alonzo Road, north of Newton Grove, and found Jones and Pyatte both dead.

Sheriff Steve Bizzell said a 2 year-old child was found in the home. The toddler was not harmed and was placed with family members.

A motive for the double murder has also not been disclosed.  No arrests have been made.
