National Board Certified Teachers

The Johnston County Board of Education recognized seven newly National Board Certified teachers this month.

National Board Certification is a rigorous, multi-year process of self-reflection and growth sponsored by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

The mission of the organization is to advance student learning and achievement by establishing the definitive standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators.

Those recognized (from left) are NBPTS district liaison Lauren Sabo, and newly National Board Certified teachers Corinth Holders High teacher Karen Morrison, North Johnston High teacher Rhonda Greenup, East Clayton Elementary teacher Karin Chemelo, Cleveland High teacher Amber Searfoss, and Corinth Holders High teacher Jacquelyn Harrell. Archer Lodge Middle teacher Jenna Taylor and Smithfield-Selma High teacher Melissa Noel also received their certifications but are not pictured.
