National Night Out Tuesday, August 6

SMITHFIELD – The Town of Smithfield will partner with over 17 thousand communities from all across the country for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Johnston Community College.

National Night Out, in its 41st year, is an annual community-building campaign that enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

National Night Out is sponsored by the Town of Smithfield Police Department, along with the Selma and Wilson’s Mills Police Departments, the Smithfield and Selma Fire Departments, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston County EMS, North Carolina Highway Patrol,
North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, Stevens Sausage, Lifespring Church, and Quality Equipment.

Public Information Officer Brian Eaves stated, “National Night Out is one of the events we look forward to every year. The event builds relationships between our community and law enforcement in a festive, positive environment. We’re proud to partner with other local public safety agencies to bring forth a wonderful evening of celebration.”

The evening includes free food, a petting zoo, bounce houses, K9 demonstrations, giveaways, police vehicle displays, and booths highlighting crime prevention and safety.
