The Smithfield Police Department will hold National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7th. The event will take place from 5:00pm until 8:00pm in the parking lot at Carolina Premium Outlets at 1025 Outlet Center Drive.
The free community event will include a live DJ, bounce house, slides, games and a dunking booth. There will be free food, drinks and gifts for those in attendance. No money will be raised or accepted during the event.
National Night Out is a community-police awareness event that first began in 1984. The event is held nationwide the first Tuesday of August. The event often includes drug prevention, town watch, and anti-crime efforts and varies in size from town-to-town. Approximately 16,000 communities participated in National Night Out in 2016 reaching 38 million people.
