NC 42 Collision Injures Moped Driver

CLAYTON – A moped operator was injured in a collision with a pickup truck, around 6:30pm Thursday. The accident happened on NC 42 East near Clayton.

Witnesses reported the westbound moped drifted into the side of a pickup truck, causing a loss of control of the moped. The rider was ejected, landing in the middle of the westbound lanes, close to Glen Laurel Road.

An off-duty EMT was not far behind the accident and rendered immediate aid. The victim was rushed to WakeMed for treatment.

Clayton Police investigated the accident and shut the westbound lanes of NC 42 for a short time.

No charges were filed against the pickup truck driver.

  1. I wonder if the required license plate on that moped got knocked off in the accident or it just didn’t have one at all.

    • Maybe you should research your laws before you make yourself look like an ignorant inconsiderate a**hole. In NC, a 50CC moped does not require tags and insurance.
