CLEVELAND – The NC Department of Transportation plans to fully open the Interstate 40 / Cleveland Road Exit in Johnston County by the end of the month, weather permitting.
After July 17, for I-40 westbound travelers, the NCDOT says the two collector-distributor lanes will open, so you must take them to either exit at Cleveland Road (312-B) or at NC 42 (312-A).
After July 25, for I-40 eastbound, the two collector-distributor lanes will open, so you must taken them to either exit at NC 42 or Cleveland Road.
When these new lanes are opened, the Cleveland Road interchange (Exit 312-B) will be fully opened, hopefully, by July 26.
The NCDOT plans to have all eight lanes on I-40 opened in this vicinity by this fall.
