SMITHFIELD – The NC Department of Transportation will buy 0.43 acres of land from Johnston County Public Schools in front of the Central Office / Evander Simpson Building on Highway 70 East. The JCPS Board voted to sell the land for $108,750, the appraised value.
The NC DOT is completing acquisition of property for construction of the new I-95 / US70 Business interchange at Exit 95 in Smithfield. Work is expected to begin in 2022.
The DOT needs to purchase a small section of land owned by the school system for completion of the east side of the new interchange project. The NC DOT will also pay the school system an additional $4,000 to cover the cost of relocating a utility line.
Existing driveways will be reconnected to the new roadway once the project is completed.
JCPS officials have not said how they will use the funds.

Does anyone know has $180-K-Carroll been successful in having a closed session vote to backdoor that $180,000.00 to our old retired School Superintendent Dr. Parker? This $112,750.00 of extra funds is getting in that ballpark figure.
Wake up sheeple, terrybarns is on the case.
