NCDOT Trucks Targeted By Catalytic Converter Thieves

Thieves targeted nine NC Department of Transportation vehicles parked at the NC DOT Johnston County Division 4 headquarters at 2861 US Highway 70 West, Smithfield. Sometime between 5:30pm on March 31st and 7:30am on April 1st, someone removed catalytic converters from the nine state-owned vehicles.

The catalytic converters were stolen from Ford F-150, F-250, F-350 and F-550 work trucks. Combined, they were valued at $10,000.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts. There has been a recent rash of catalytic converter thefts in the area.
