NCWorks Job Fair Connects Hundreds Of Job Seekers To Local Employers

SMITHFIELD – Johnston Community College (JCC), in partnership with Capital Area Workforce Development (CAWD) and NCWorks Career Centers, hosted the NCWorks Job Fair on JCC’s main campus last week.

Nearly 30 employers connected with 350 job seekers in attendance. The free event featured companies in some of Johnston County’s most in-demand industries, including healthcare, biopharma, construction, and local government. Among the participating employers were Novo Nordisk, Caterpillar, OPW, Johnston County Public Schools, Johnston County Government, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

“It’s inspiring to see so many job seekers come together with employers who are eager to invest in the talent right here in Johnston County,” says JCC President Dr. Vern L. Lindquist.

“This event is a key example of how JCC and NCWorks play a vital role in connecting individuals with opportunities that can lead to long-term career success,” Lindquist adds.

“Capital Area’s NCWorks Career Centers take pride in equipping residents with the job skills, training, and career resources. Preparation is important for success but so is providing direct access to job opportunities with quality employers, especially in a fast-growing county like Johnston,” said Pat Sturdivant, executive director at Capital Area Workforce Development.
