SMITHFIELD – Whitley Kate Moore, a senior at Neuse Charter School, has been chosen to receive the SECU Foundation’s “People Helping People” college scholarship. This award is for $1,250 per semester for a total of $10,000 towards her four year undergraduate degree.
SECU Foundation takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “People Helping People.” While the Foundation recognizes academic achievement, this scholarship has a much broader purpose – recognizing leadership, integrity and community involvement.
“We are very proud of Whitley Kate and all of her accomplishments at school and in her community,” said Neuse Charter Counselor, Amy McGinnis.
Whitley Kate will graduate from Neuse Charter School in May and will attend NC State University. She is the daughter of Mayor Andy Moore and Lydia Moore of Smithfield.
