The Neuse Charter School Varsity Girls Basketball team won first place in the Cape Fear Christian Academy Senior Classic held Friday and Saturday.
Neuse defeated Wayne Country Day 40-31 in the first round and then outscored Cape Fear Christian Academy 67-49 in the championship game.
Lacey Jones led the Cougars with 11 points in the win over Wayne Country Day. In the big win over Cape Fear Christian, McKenna Kersat was the leading scorer with 23 points. Other Neuse scorers included Kayla Ham with 14, Dominique Dakin with 13, Lacey Jones with 11, and Kiondra Webb with 6.
This was the first tournament championship win for the Neuse Varsity Girls Basketball team.
