Johnston County Schools has named Dr. Paula Coates as the new Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Coates will replace Dr. Eddie Price whose last day on the job will be July 31st.
Dr. Coates currently serves as the school system’s Executive Director of Federal Programs. She has worked in the district as a principal at the elementary, middle and high school level. Dr. Coates holds a Doctor of Education Leadership from Fayetteville State University, a Master of School Administration degree from East Carolina University, a Master of Education degree from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics degree from North Carolina State University.
Price has been named Director of the NC Principal Fellows Program at North Carolina State University effective August 1, 2018. Price has earned numerous recognitions for his outstanding leadership, including being named the Johnston County Administrator of the Year in 2007, the Johnston County Administrator of the Year in 2010, and the Johnston County Principal of the Year in 2013. Since 2015, he has held various central office capacities for Johnston County Public Schools, including serving as an area superintendent and chief academic officer and deputy superintendent.
Dr. Price had made an annual salary of $125,004 as deputy superintendent. Dr. Coates most recent salary was $98,340. Officials have not announced Coates new salary as deputy superintendent.
