Johnston County Emergency Services has received delivery of two 2019 American Emergency Vehicle ambulances. The ambulances will replace units that are scheduled for surplus in August.
The new ambulances are the first in the fleet to have the department’s new color and striping scheme. The change in color and striping was made to highlight the departmental patch and to distinguish Johnston County ambulances from others providers while ensuring high visibility in both daytime and nighttime settings.
The units will be placed in service once medical equipment has been installed and final inspections have been completed. The ambulances will be located at EMS stations in Smithfield and Clayton.
The new look will be phased in as ambulances reach their life expectancy and are replaced.
Johnston County EMS has a fleet of 28 ambulances. The new ambulances cost $145,965 each.
