Chopper transport to cut response times in
emergencies
A
medical transport helicopter, like the one shown here, is now stationed at
Harnett Health’s Betsy Johnson Hospital. The helicopter will improve services at
the hospital.
Harnett Health officials announced an addition to their fleet of vehicles that will help make healthcare better and faster for the local community, with a new helicopter providing quick access to other facilities as needed.
Harnett Health officials say they will now have a LifeLINK Air Medivac Helicopter stationed at Betsy Johnson Hospital full time.
Harnett Health President Cory Hess said the helicopter will improve service.
“We are always going to put patient safety and well-being first,” Hess said. “Having LifeLINK Air stationed at Betsy Johnson will allow us to provide patients with faster assistance to specialized medical facilities when the patient is physically, or medically unable to utilize normal modes of transportation.”
The LifeLINK Air helicopter will allow providers to be able to cut response times and deliver critical care air ambulance services to patients following a traumatic illness or injury.
The LifeLINK Air uses an Airbus H135 medical helicopter to assist with quick-response patient transports. The aircraft is capable of carrying a crew of three and a patient up to 173 mph.-Dunn Daily Record
