2015 was a good year for the building industry in Johnston County. A total of 1,134 new housing permits were issued to builders last year, up from 926 in 2014, an increase of 23 percent. In 2013, 834 new home permits were issued by the Johnston County Inspections Department.
The average value of a new home built in 2015 was $182,783.62. In 2014, the average value was $179,663.86 and in 2013, $179,836.84.
A total of 79 doublewide permits and 103 singlewide permits were issued countywide in 2015, in line with the same numbers of permits issued in 2013 and 2014.
A total of 71 commercial construction permits were issued in 2015, up from 52 in 2014, and 54 in 2013.
