A Raleigh man is in critical condition after losing control of his new motorcycle over the weekend in Clayton.
Around 8 p.m. Saturday, Keith Triggs, 36, was heading north on N.C. 42 near Johnston Health Clayton riding a Harley Davidson. Triggs was travelling at an estimated 70 mph and passing several cars on the left when he failed to notice a raised concrete median in the road, according to witness reports taken by the Clayton Police Department. The posted speed limit is 45 mph.
Triggs hit the median, lost control and was ejected from his Harley. Upon hitting the pavement, he slid more than 200 feet from the initial point of impact.
Clayton Police found Triggs in the middle of the road, where he was unconscious but breathing. Triggs was transported to WakeMed, where he remains in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.
Triggs had purchased the motorcycle the day before the accident, according to police.
