New Officer Joins Department

The Smithfield Police Department has hired a new officer.

Officer Marshall Tate received his oath of office last week from Mayor Andy Moore.  Tate will fill an existing vacancy on the patrol squad.

Tate holts an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice Technology from Johnston Community College. He also graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at JCC last December.

Tate lives in the Four Oaks area.
