The Smithfield Police Department has hired an officer to fill a vacancy on the force.
Officer Samuel Adams (center) received his Oath of Office from Smithfield Mayor Andy Moore (left) during the Nov. 14th meeting of the Smithfield Town Council.
Adams graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Training at Wake Community College earlier this year.
He is from Fuquay Varina. Officer Adams was a former member of the US Army.
