No. 13 Camels Earn School Record Seventh Win, Defeat Maine 35-6

ORONO, MAINE – Kamden Sixkiller threw for a school single-game record 450 yards with three touchdowns, leading No. 13 Campbell on the road at Maine 35-6. Campbell set a new single-season record for wins with Saturday’s victory, claiming its seventh win on the year.

The previous program-best of six wins was posted in 2011, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The Camels moved to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in CAA play with their fifth consecutive victory, remaining unbeaten against FCS opponents this season (7-0). Maine, meanwhile, fell to 1-7 overall and 1-4 against conference opponents.

Sixkiller completed 29-of-44 passes in his record-setting performance, adding an interception to go along with touchdown tosses in the first, third and fourth quarters.

Sixkiller completed passes to 13 different receivers in the win, with Jyron Waiters hauling in seven catches for 155 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior QB also tacked on a team-high 41 yards rushing on seven attempts.

Jon Gullette added a touchdown apiece through the air and on the ground, collecting 59 yards on two catches, putting Campbell on the board with a 53-yard touchdown catch over the middle in the first frame, later punching in a TD in the third to give the Camels a 28-6 lead.

Evan Austin collected three catches for 50 yards, while Christian Campbell posted 49 yards on four grabs for the Camels.

Charles Battaglia led the Campbell defense with 10 tackles, including 1.5 stops for loss and a sack, while AJ Benton tallied nine stops, assisting on a stop for loss with a pass breakup. Ravel Cato also collected eight tackles with an interception and two pass breakups. Greg Ransome also added an interception in the win.

Campbell’s defense limited the Black Bears to 2-of-17 on third down, holding its opponent scoreless in the fourth quarter for the fifth time in the last six games.

The Camels’ six points allowed were the fewest since shutting out Presbyterian 72-0 in 2021, and the fewest points allowed to a conference opponent since a 34-6 victory over Presbyterian in 2018.

Caden Drezek completed 21-of-40 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, with Evan Wallace registering six catches for 67 yards for Maine.

Jeremiah McGill led Maine defensively with 11 tackles.

Next up, Campbell will return North for a matchup at UAlbany on October 31, the first meeting between the programs. The Camels will finish the regular season with two of their final three games at home, taking on Stony Brook (Nov. 7) and Monmouth (Nov. 21) at Barker-Lane Stadium.
