RALEIGH – The North Carolina House of Representatives formally honored former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole for her extraordinary lifetime of public service. Senator Dole was in attendance for the tribute on Wednesday, which recognized her decades of leadership and enduring impact on both North Carolina and the nation.
A native of Salisbury, Senator Dole represented North Carolina in the U.S. Senate from 2003 to 2009. Her distinguished career also includes serving as U.S. Secretaries of Transportation and Labor under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, respectively.
Senator Dole’s work continues through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, where she remains a leading advocate for America’s military caregivers, giving voice to the families and individuals who support our nation’s wounded veterans.
