North Carolina House Honors Senator Elizabeth Dole

RALEIGH – The North Carolina House of Representatives formally honored former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole for her extraordinary lifetime of public service. Senator Dole was in attendance for the tribute on Wednesday, which recognized her decades of leadership and enduring impact on both North Carolina and the nation.

A native of Salisbury, Senator Dole represented North Carolina in the U.S. Senate from 2003 to 2009. Her distinguished career also includes serving as U.S. Secretaries of Transportation and Labor under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, respectively.

Senator Dole’s work continues through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, where she remains a leading advocate for America’s military caregivers, giving voice to the families and individuals who support our nation’s wounded veterans.

Speaker Destin Hall said, “Senator Dole is a trailblazer with an unwavering commitment to the people of North Carolina. Our state is proud to call her one of our own, and we will always remember her example.”
