For the second time in as many weeks, hemp has been reported stolen from an area farm field.

On Saturday, a grower reported that 25 plants had been stolen from his field on Massengill Pond Road near the Johnston-Harnett County line. The plants were valued at $1,250.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

On Sept. 26th, a 18 year-old Raleigh man was allegedly caught by deputies stealing 8.8 pounds of hemp from a field on Wendell Road near Archer Lodge.  The suspect was arrested before he could leave the scene.
